MONTREAL, QUEBEC – May 13, 2026 — MacKinnon, Bennett & Company Inc. (“MKB”) is pleased to announce the promotion of James Palucci to Group Chief Financial Officer, effective immediately.
The appointment marks a deliberate step in MKB’s evolution, reflecting the firm’s commitment to building the leadership depth needed to support a scaled, multi-fund platform as it enters its next phase of growth.

“James has played a central role in establishing the financial, operational, and governance foundations that support the platform today,” said Antonio Occhionero, Managing Partner of MKB Equity Partners Inc. “As MKB has evolved from its inaugural fund to a diversified, cross‑border structure, James has developed a deep understanding of our business and investor base, building the infrastructure that has allowed us to scale with confidence. This promotion reflects both his contributions to date and our conviction in his continued leadership.”
“James has been a valued and trusted member of the firm and has worked closely with the leadership team for many years,” said Richard Cherney, Chief Executive Officer of MacKinnon, Bennett & Company Inc. “As our operating model has taken on greater significance, he brings experience, continuity, and a forward-looking perspective to his role. His ability to operate across the full breadth of our organization strengthens our senior leadership, and we are pleased to recognize his contributions through this appointment.”
Mr. Palucci joined MacKinnon, Bennett & Company in 2019. As Group Chief Financial Officer, he leads financial strategy and oversight across the organization, with responsibility for regulatory compliance and operational due diligence. He works closely with executive leadership, investment teams, and functional groups, bridging strategic oversight and operational execution.
In addition to his firm‑wide responsibilities, Mr. Palucci serves on MKB’s ESG Committee and on the Finance and Audit Committees of select portfolio companies.
Prior to joining MKB, Mr. Palucci was a public auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he audited investment managers with assets under management in excess of $100 billion. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), holds an MBA from the John Molson School of Business, and is a graduate of BDC’s General Partner Academy (Finance and Operations Cohort).
The promotion strengthens MKB’s leadership as the firm continues to scale its platform and expand its presence in the energy transition space.
